Sister Lam is Feeling 22!

Sawad dii kha!!

So I have officially been at the MTC for 1 whole week, and it's been pretty crazy. So if you haven't already realized, my P-day (or preparation day...or free day) is on Wednesday, hence why you have not heard from me till now. But don't worry, I'm alive!!! But don't expect me to respond via email till then haha. Or if you're feeling really cool and really love me, you guys could use Dearelder.com, and I can get your letters every day of the week while at the MTC! So you should do that too, cuz I don't have too long to email on Wednesdays, and I'll send you guys hard copy letters during my free time. :)

My district consists of the 6 missionaries at the MTC going to Thailand. That makes 5 sisters and 1 elder.

My Thai district.

So if you all were wondering...yup Elder Reid Arne is that one elder in our district! Soooo crazy. He and I have the same exact schedule everyday and basically see each other every hour of the day (minus the ones we're asleep of course). He's pretty great, and since he's the only elder in our district, he is also our district leader!

Me and Elder Arne out on our zone temple walk.

I am also in a companionship of 3 sisters. It's me, Sister Adams, and Sister Holmes. And luckily for me, Sister Adams is a year older than me! So I'm not the senior companion or the oldest missionary in our zone...just the 2nd oldest :) But I honestly was blessed with the best companions! We are all really similar, and we all are struggling with the language....So that makes for pretty interesting lessons when we teach our "investigators."

Me and my companions! (Sister Adams, Sister Holmes, me)

If you are wondering, Thai....is a HARD language!!!! I literally eat, breathe, and sleep Thai every day, yet I still don't understand most of it. But I did make sure to learn how to bare my testimony and say a prayer. Hopefully that will be enough? But keep your fingers crossed that I pick up the language soon! While I've been here though, I have really just learned to rely on the spirit, especially when we are teaching because ultimately, it is God's plan. And He will make sure that those we teach receive the right message through us.

My district crammed into our tiny classroom.

Since being at the MTC for this week (which feels like eternity, for reals), I have just been learning a ton about myself and about the Lord's plan for us as missionaries. One of the best things I've learned to do diligently...and all the time, is to pray. I pray a billion times (k not a billion..but you catch my drift) a day so that I can have the spirit with me at all times. And I've really learned that it has made an impact on just about everything I do. It's definitely a hard thing for me to adhere to such a strict schedule, and to do that while glued to 2 other girls. But I'm learning to love the missionary schedule (even waking up at 6:30...kind of) and it really just helps me have a better day.

Today also happens to be my birthday!!! I tend to feel old amongst the sea of 18 and 19 year olds, and my zone makes it known a lot that I'm old. But I'm hoping it is all out of love because I love them all so much, and I've learned so much from these young elders and sisters. They are soooooo in tune with the spirit and just so ready and willing to serve the Lord. They are always such a good example to me. AAAAAAnd the sisters in my district were so sweet and surprised me with some of my favorite treats this morning :) And because my birthday landed on P-day, we got to start off our day with a session at the temple, which I am so grateful for. It honestly has been an amazing day, and an amazing week so far. Hopefully I survive the next 8 weeks here at the MTC!! Wish me luck!

Ran into my brother Cam at the MTC copy center!

And thanks to all of those who emailed me and wished me a happy birthday!! I love you all, and you are all most definitely in my prayers!

Love always,
Sister Lam
